Manchester City left-back Rayan Aït-Nouri has been given a huge boost after being named in Algeria’s squad for their upcoming international fixtures. The news comes as relief for both City and Algeria fans after fears that the defender had picked up a serious injury in the clash against Tottenham Hotspur.

Algeria’s manager Vladimir Petković confirmed that the ankle problem Aït-Nouri suffered against Spurs is not serious. Team doctors cleared him to return to training, and he has since joined the national team setup ahead of their World Cup qualifiers.

“Aït-Nouri had an injury, but the doctors said it’s not serious. He has trained to rejoin the group. Manchester City also plan for him to feature in the next match,” Petković explained.

Reports from Manchester City’s camp also indicate that the defender is expected to be available for their crucial Premier League fixture against Brighton this weekend, a massive boost for Pep Guardiola’s squad.
